Enhance depth and movement with polished plaster
Suave two-tone finishes explained
Suave two-tone combines the silkiness of the Suave plaster in two shades to create a cloudy or marbled look that adds extra movement to the plaster finish. Typically applied in a light and dark shade of a similar colour to create a subtle shift, however any two-colour combinations can be applied to create a bespoke look.
Two-tone applications are great for spaces where the light source is limited or too bright to pick up the texture, therefore the shift in tone adds another level of movement to the surface. Also, a great option for rendered ceilings to achieve more impact, or spaces that can afford more drama.
A truly hand-crafted finish, each combination is unique and will differ through how the colours work together, the number of folds and the ratio of one colour to another. The cloudy look is achieved through the folding of the two equal portions of coloured plaster on the hawk – 4 or more folds depending on the level of blending – that creates either a muted shift (10 folds) or a more dramatic marbled look (4 folds) adding extra movement and depth to the polished finish.
Able to be expressed in both our traditional and mottled applications, the two-tone finish is also a great way to achieve a concrete look, with our Tilt Slab Light and Tilt Slab Dark combination in a traditional texture, similar to a soft poured concrete. When applied in a mottled finish, the dark colour is applied first, with the lighter colour rolled over and then floated to reveal the dark tones underneath. Depending on the time of floating, this can either create a watercolour or leather effect.
Through the combination of a warm and cool tone, a soft chalky appearance reminiscent of a French or Italian villa can be achieved offering a tonal shift that provides flexibility within all colour palettes.
When specifying a two-tone finish, two colours must be selected – these can be any two colours within our range, including half or double shades. When applied in the mottled texture, thought must be given to what colour is dominant.
As this is a bespoke finish, we always recommend having a sample made up to visualise your desired combination if we do not have an example in stock.
